The Axeman ComethInteresting bloke is David Burder. He grows grapes and makes axes. Well, technically, they're wood splitters. David and his wife, Sharon, together with their children Clare, Jared, and Roman, live and work on a third-generation family property at Whitlands, right in the heart of the King Valley. Their vineyard is called Stella Matutina - Latin for Morning Star.

A World ChampionGrapegrowerBesides being a champion bloke, Malcolm Milne is a world champion in his own right. In 1969 Malcolm won the World Cup Downhill at Val d'Isere, France, a race where he gave the best in the world a good old fashioned Aussie hiding. Born and bred on the mountains of this stunningly beautiful region of Victoria, Malcolm hasn't moved far from this place he loves so much. He and his wife, Sherry, live on a magnificent property which stares straight into the face of Mt Buffalo.
Build It, Fix It,Cook It, Grow ItWalter Sartori, like other members of the Redbank family of growers, has strong links to the "old country". Walter's father, Basilio, was born in the tiny village of Sottoriva, in the Provincia di Trento, Italy. In 1938, at the age of 28, Basilio made the tough decision to leave his place of birth. Today Walter and his wife, Barbara, have a hands on interest in the King Valley River Vineyard, which produces premium fruit for the wines of Redbank Victoria. Barb, being a wonderful cook, has the best veggie garden outside of Victoria market. Walter is famous for his salami and polenta, and his workshop is a handyman's lolly shop.
Pass the Pizza, Pourthe Pinot GrisJohn Cavedon's parents, Marcello and Adelia, came from a traditional farming background in Italy. The decision to leave their home in in Valli del Pasubio must have been difficult, but the promise of a new life and new opportunities won out and they emigrated to Australia in 1950. In 1979 John and his wife, Helen, established a vineyard in a stunningly beautiful valley in the King Valley. Today the fruit from just 12 acres is hand picked and used to produce the widely acclaimed Sunday Morning Pinot Gris. The Italian love affair with good food, good wine and good friends is no better demonstrated than when you visit the Cavedon family.
A long, long way fromthe green, green grass of home.Winnie Jones came to Australia in 2000 from a sheep and cattle farm in the Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales. Together with her daughter, 12 year old Jemima and 10 year old son Davey Tom and Partner Mal Douglass they live on a magnificent property, Mt. Bellevue, which overlooks the King Valley
